Highlights NKRC Season 2 ( 100 Teams / 2100 Participants / 3.5 Lacs cash Prize )
After delivering a very promising season 1, NKRC was back with bigger plans. Since the bars of expectations were higher this year, we made sure that we do not disappoint. With a 250% hike in the number of participating teams, we did the unthinkable and raised the level of the competition to heights never seen before.
With a staggering amount of Rs 3.5 Lakhs at stake. The word was already out and the teams began gearing up like never before. The crews came more prepared with better technology, optimized designs, greater innovation and an ultimate zeal to forever etch their name in the NKRC legacy.National Kart Racing Championship 2015 was the follow-up event organized under the student’s racing chapter of Virtualis Motorsports.
It had the nation rolling for it. With over a 100 teams from different parts of the nation competing toprove their intellectual supremacy andtake home the hefty prize money with them.
An enormous stage was set for the presentation ceremony and the awe it created dazzled every eye that was put upon it. Everything was handled more professionally; the anchors, the presentation, the award ceremony, themarshals. Even the person with the slightest association with the NKRC felt the happy chill rush through them.
Also our definition of Go-karting competition elevated with the unparalleled support of:
- Our participants: the size did not stop them from being at their best discipline. Without their support the level of positive competition could not be reached.
- Judging panel: Bigger names were added to the already highly experienced expert panel for the competition.
- Virtualis Motorsport’s management/research & training/Marketing team and volunteers did the unthinkable and proved that the first season was just a stepping stone for us at NKRC.
Venue & Event:
Virtual Round: The prefabrication round i.e. the Virtual Round unfolded in the rainy days of July on the 18-19th and the various participating teams from all around India competed on the amazing campus of Vikrant Group of Institutions, Indore. The teams were first welcome by an opening ceremony and then followed by the presentation round. The teams brought with them the amazing insights that they had developed over the course of time and their thorough research was reflected in their fluent calculations and depth of presentation. Some teams even brought 3D models to aid in the presentation process. A total of 82 teams qualified from this round and proceeded for the fabrication of the go-kart.
Final Round: The same beautiful track was ready to relive the legacy that it had witnessed last season. But now, the teams tally had grown, expectations were higher and there was more at stake than before. 17th to 19th October saw the most finely produced go-karts put to the most rigorous tests. The technical inspection checked if the Go-karts were as per the guidelines, the brake test and the acceleration tests were in order to mark the difference between better and the best followed by the Skid-pad and the Autocross Test with higher difficulty levels. Also to steal the lime light, a new event came forth by the name ‘Traction Test’, where teams had to prove that their go-kart could pull heavier weight for a certain distance in least possible time. The second day of the event saw forth the DJ night where the raving engineers for once left their rush for speed and danced to the tunes of the talented DJ. The mood was instantly lightened and our event of pace became a festival.
And then on the final day, 50 karts out of the initial 82 were put to their ultimate test, the endurance. The first phase of endurance was divided into 5 slots of 10 teams each and a time of 30 minutes. The top 15 teams were to race under the stars in the last race of the season. Track was now more difficult, condition were harsher and the competition tougher. At the end Team Tauras emerged victorious with the title of the champions soon followed by Team Anveshan bagging in the first runner up award along with the third podium finish Team Nexus Racing.
